The ET column moves because the US and UK change clocks on different Sundays. In March the US moves first, so the gap is 4 hours for a few weeks and the 19 March decision lands at 8:00am ET. On every other date in the table the gap is 5 hours. The Bank of England rate decision page keeps the full history of changes, and the central banks table compares Bank Rate with other policy rates.
Bank Rate in 2026 so far
Bank Rate was cut to 3.75% on 18 December 2025, the last of four quarter point cuts in 2025. The Monetary Policy Committee then held it at each of the six meetings from February to September 2026, according to the record on our decision page.

A long hold does not make the dates quiet. Sterling often moves on the vote split and the guidance even when the rate is unchanged, because those details shift what markets expect for the next meeting.

What a decision day looks like for GBP/USD
At 12:00 UK time the Bank publishes the decision, the vote split and the minutes together. On report months it adds new forecasts for growth and inflation. Because everything lands at once, the first move in GBP/USD can be sharp and can reverse within minutes as traders read the detail.
Practical habits: know where the pair sits before noon on GBP/USD today, size the stop in money before the release with the pip value calculator, and avoid adding to a position in the first minutes. Our guide on central bank rate decisions covers the gap between pricing and message, and the take profit ladder shows how three targets help lock in part of a fast move. The GBP/USD forecast keeps the wider view.
