Copy trading vs forex signals

Both let you follow another trader's decisions. The difference is who presses the button: with signals you place the trade yourself; with copy trading a platform does it for you.

Overview

A forex signal is a trade idea: a market, a direction, an entry, a stop loss and one or more targets. You read it, decide whether it suits you and place the order in your own account. Copy trading is different. You link your account to a platform, choose a trader to follow, and the platform opens and closes positions in your account automatically, usually scaled to the money you allocate.

Forexuro provides signals. We do not offer copy trading, we do not manage accounts and we never ask for access to your broker account.

Free on Telegram. Forexuro posts signals you place yourself, with a stop loss on every trade. New members currently get free signals on joining.

How copy trading works

On a copy trading platform, each trader you can follow has a public profile with returns, drawdown and a risk score. When you allocate money, the platform mirrors that trader's positions in proportion. If they open a gold trade with a set share of their account, you open the same trade with the same share of your allocation. You can usually stop copying at any time and set a stop on the total allocation.

The attraction is convenience: no need to be at the screen. The risks are less visible. A profile's past returns can come from a few large, risky trades. Traders with followers may change their style. Your fills can differ from theirs, and small allocations may not scale cleanly into minimum trade sizes.

How signals work

With signals you see the full trade before acting. A Forexuro signal gives an entry, a stop loss and three targets, so you know the risk before you place it. You then choose the size with a tool such as the position size calculator, and you can skip a trade if the price has moved, if it clashes with an open position or if a big release is close. See how to read a signal.

The trade-off is effort: you need to see the signal and place it yourself. Many traders find that useful, because each trade is a small lesson in how a setup is built.

What to check before using either

  • A full record. Every closed trade, losses included, not just screenshots. Ours is on the trade history page.
  • A stop loss on every trade. No stop means the risk is open ended.
  • Drawdown, not just returns. How deep were the losing runs?
  • Who is regulated. In the UK, check any firm that handles your money or trades your account on the FCA register. Forexuro is not authorised or regulated by the FCA, and our signals are general information, not advice.
  • Total costs. Add up platform fees, performance fees and spreads.

A note for UK traders

If a service trades your account for you, it is doing more than publishing information, and it may need FCA authorisation. Check the FCA register and the FCA warning list before linking any account. With signals, your broker account stays yours alone, and you remain responsible for every trade you place. Read our risk disclosure.

Which suits you?

Copy trading suits people who want hands-off exposure and are comfortable handing trading decisions to a platform. Signals suit people who want to stay in control, learn as they go and decide their own risk on each trade. You can try the signal approach free on the Forexuro Telegram channel.

Frequently asked questions

Is copy trading the same as signals?

No. With signals you receive a trade idea and place it yourself. With copy trading a platform places trades in your account automatically.

Does Forexuro offer copy trading?

No. Forexuro publishes signals that you place yourself. We do not manage accounts or trade on anyone's behalf, and we never ask for broker passwords.

Which is less risky?

Neither is low risk. Signals keep each decision with you; copy trading hands decisions to someone else. Both can lose money.

Can I combine copy trading and signals?

Some traders do, but holding overlapping positions can double your risk on the same market without you noticing.

Education only, not financial advice. Trading forex, gold and CFDs carries a high risk of losing money, and leverage magnifies both gains and losses. Past performance is not a reliable guide to future results. Read our risk disclosure.
