Why sessions matter
Liquidity and volatility change through the day. The London session and its overlap with New York usually bring the tightest spreads and the biggest moves on major pairs and gold. The Tokyo session is often quieter outside yen pairs. Hours shown are typical local business hours (Sydney 07:00 to 16:00, Tokyo 09:00 to 18:00, London 08:00 to 17:00, New York 08:00 to 17:00) and adjust automatically for daylight saving time.
